The 2014 Bentley Continental GT3 Racecar made its debut last month at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This is where it showed its power and capability during the dramatic hill climb of the event.
The design follows the original concept which was released in 2012. Bentley says that this model is more track-ready and has additional special features.
Engine
The modifications on this model are extensive that are meant to help it perform better on the track. The motor sport engineers of Bentley have re-modified the new Continental GT's already impressive V8 4.0 liter engine.
They chose to use the smaller twin-turbo engine because of its compactness and lightweight. It produces over 600 horsepower, thanks to the added 100 horsepower.
Exterior & Interior
The new Continental GT3 has a mean, sleek and bold body design. The body is meant to maximize the aerodynamic capabilities of the automobile. The new air dam is seen to extend all the way forward.
The massive rear wing is attached to the trunk lid, unlike the concept model version where it was found at the rear of the car.
All the luxury items usually found in Bentley vehicles have been stripped of this version. This was to make room for lighter items. Sparco racing seats as well as a full roll-cage has been installed inside.
Testing will start later this year for the new Continental GT3. This impressive automobile will be entering endurance racing at the FIA Blancpain Series in 2014.
The modification on this car has helped it improve its speed. Over 2,200 pounds of weight has been removed after a couple of re-modifications, making it a promising lightweight, high-speed and high-endurance race car.
